More than three decades ago, while stationed in the Philippines, I had the opportunity to design my own wedding dress. The sketch I made was bad! It looked like my 2-year-old daughter drew it.
Nevertheless, a very talented tailor named Maryland was able to understand my vision. Through the weeks that followed, she made me feel like the most important person in the world. No matter how I looked, she treated me the same. No matter that she had other work that paid more, she treated me the same. I was important. I was beautiful. I was a princess.
